Old and new laser treatments available in Singapore and how they stack up

Vbeam Perfecta

VBeam Perfecta Laser

VBeam Perfecta Laser

Vbeam Perfecta is a laser system that utilises advanced pulsed dye laser technology to treat a variety of skin conditions with minimal side effects. The skin conditions include acne scars, psoriasis, rosacea, vascular, pigmented and non-pigmented lesions.  It’s a relatively painless system and does not require an anaesthetic due to its Candela Dynamic Cooling Device which cools the upper layers of the skin with a bursts of cryogen after each pulse of laser.  This lessens damage to the skin, which in turn, reduces the recovery period.  Compared to Intense Pulse Light or IPL, Vbeam is arguably better with a faster recovery time.  Some patients may be at a higher risk of purpura (laser bruising) than others.  For best effects, the patient is recommended to put on sunscreen after each treatment during the course of treatments. The majority of patients usually see immediate effects which include skin tightening and lightening as well as the reduction of pore size.

Candela GentleMax Pro (GMAX)

Candela GentleMax laser

Candela GentleMax laser

Candela GentleMax Pro (GMAX) is a consolidated multi-wavelength device for a range of aesthetic treatments.  It is designed to be safe for all skin types and can be used for many treatments including hair removal, skin rejuvenation as well as pigmented and vascular lesion reduction.  The GentleMax Pro combines a 755mm Alexandrite laser with a 1064mm Nd:YAG laser to provide a wider range of treatment capabilities for all skin types. The applicator has the industry’s largest spot size of 18mm which allows for a larger area to be treated at any one time, therefore faster treatments. The built-in Candela Dynamic Cooling Device which releases a burst of cryogen onto the skin after each laser pulse helps with increasing patient comfort and epidermic protection. For hair removal, the GMAX is applied to the base of hair follicles, causing subsequent hair regrowth to become finer over time to the point that hair ceases to grow altogether.

PicoSure

PicoSure laser marks a new generation of picosecond lasers

PicoSure laser marks a new generation of picosecond lasers

The PicoSure is a picosecond laser device that can be used for many different types of aesthetic treatments.  It utilises photomechanical impact to directly target a range of skin conditions from pigmentation, acne scars, fine wrinkles, blemishes and even tattoos and remove them without risking the heat damage which can occur with nanosecond lasers utilising photothermal energy. Because of this, anaesthesia is not required as the effect is relatively painless, with patients usually feeling nothing more than a mild tingling sensation on the treated area.  The treatment can be administered with the Focus Lens Array which helps to redistribute the laser energy pulse for enhancing results on patients and improve recovery times while ensuring better patient comfort. Compared with other nanosecond and Q-switched lasers on the market, the PicoSure shows faster results with significantly less downtime.  The PicoSure is also known to be able to remove the shadow of tattoos that remain even after several treatments by lasers of previous generations. The PicoSure is also suitable for use on various skin tones without the risk of hyperpigmentation that tend to occur on medium to dark skin.

RevLite

RevLite laser

RevLite laser

RevLite utilises PhotoAcoustic Technology Pulse (PTP) to treat various skin conditions including epidermal and dermal pigmented lesions, non-ablative skin rejuvenation, wrinkle and acne scar reduction, vascular lesion removal and even hair removal.  PTP lasers emit light in very short, fast pulses, which reduces damage to the skin that can occur through prolonged exposure.  They are also safe for use on all skin colours, from light to medium and dark skin tones.  PTP lasers deliver light pulses at peak energy, eliminating spikes of energy or hot spots during treatments. This leads to more consistent energy delivery and higher patient comfort and faster treatments.  PTP beams are also capable of reorganising the skin’s collagen which results in the overall tightening of the skin, reduction of the appearance of wrinkles; all without damaging the surrounding skin.

All laser treatments are available at Aesthetic & Medical Centre and administered by Dr Joseph Yang who has over 30 years of experience using aesthetic lasers.
